About the project

Japan Creator Support Fund was established in 2024 within the Japan Arts Council to implement initiatives aimed at nurturing creators, artists and enhancing the value of cultural institutions. With this funding, The Association of Public Theaters and Halls in Japan is working to foster professional coordinators who will promote Japan’s outstanding performing arts productions overseas.
This project, in collaboration with the Yokohama International Performing Arts Meeting (YPAM), selects 10 producers and stage technicians through an open call and screening. They participate in overseas festivals and platforms for training through observation, exchange, and presentations, aiming to develop “overseas coordinators” who continuously promote Japan’s performing arts abroad.

Project Objectives

By training professionals who can conduct international exchanges in performing arts and by building a sustainable support system, this program will connect different regions in Japan and overseas, and will create opportunities in which outstanding performing arts works from various parts of Japan are regularly introduced at international arts markets and festivals. Through this effort, it aims to encourage more invited performances and touring, contributing also to the development of regional cultural activities throughout Japan.

Training Destinations: International Performing Arts Festivals & Markets
